Reed City, formerly the junction of the two railroads, "The Flint and Pere Marquette" and "The Grand Rapids and Indiana", is now the crossroads of two biking and snowmobile trails, and home to one of Michigan's newest State Parks, "The White Pine Trail State Park".The community was originally settled as a lumbering center. Later, followed by extensive agriculture operations. In the late 1930's oil and gas were discovered. The area today still has a sizeable gas industry. The community supports a Museum dedicated, in part, to the late Rev. Geo. Bennard, author of "The Old Rugged Cross", and the history of The Reed City Area.
